333 angel number
Three threes. In Doreen Virtue’s 1999 list, 333 means the Ascended Masters are near; later angel-number writers read it as growth and creativity.
Meaning
Angel numbers are a New Age belief that angels and other spiritual beings speak through repeated numbers; what follows is what the belief’s writers claim. Virtue’s 1999 reading of 333 is about the Ascended Masters, not angels: they are “near you, desiring you to know that you have their help, love, and companionship”. Among the best known she named “Jesus, Moses, Mary, Quan Yin, and Yogananda”. Mental Floss’s 2026 guide gives 333 a different reading, “growth, expansion, and creativity”, and says numerology makes three the number of “mastery over all elements of life”.
Origin and history
Hay House published her Healing with the Angels, with its number list, in 1999, and her Archangels and Ascended Masters: A Guide to Working and Healing with Divinities and Deities in 2003. After she was baptised in February 2017, Hay House agreed to take that book and its companion cards out of print, Virtue told The Wild Hunt, “in case people used them to worship idols and deities other than God.” The World Religions and Spirituality Project describes her conversion as a “repudiation of all her previous teachings”.
Three in Pythagorean number symbolism
The Pythagoreans, a cult that existed from as early as the sixth century BCE, believed that numbers had mystical properties, according to Britannica. In their scheme three was the male principle and two the female. Neither Virtue nor Mental Floss gives three that meaning.
